Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Could Be At Least 10 Hours Long

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End released nearly a year ago and brought us the conclusion of Nathan Drake’s story. We knew there would be story DLC coming to the game at some point that many speculated could be focused on Sully and Sam. Naughty Dog surprised us all at PSX 2016 with the reveal of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy though, which is a standalone game built from the initial DLC that revolves around Chloe and Nadine. The actual length of the game has been a big question and now we may have a little bit better of an idea with that.

The British Academy Game Awards were recently held and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End took home the Best Game award at the show. At the awards show, International Business Times had a chance to speak with Naughty Dog’s director of communication Arne Mayer.

They were not specifically asked about Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’s length, but they did bring up that topic when discussing how it became a standalone game.

“Years ago, when we were asked if we were ever doing a single player expansion for Uncharted we always said, ‘Well, we don’t have the self-discipline to do that’. If we tried to do that we’d create a full game. There’s no way we could, sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves, and that’s exactly what was happening here. When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over ten hours long and so we suddenly realised everything we said was true and we couldn’t keep it short.”

Mayer doesn’t say that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be a 10 hour experience, but the fact that their initial story pitches that led to it becoming a standalone game rather than just story DLC were more than 10 hours long is pretty telling. We still don’t have a release date for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but hopefully we’ll get more details at E3 in June.
