Xbox 360 has the most gamers

Neilsen recently concluded a study measuring how teenagers used their gaming consoles and the results were surprising.  The survey found that PlayStation 3 owners spend only 49% of their time using the device as a gaming machine.

40% of the time PlayStation 3 owners are using their console to watch movies either of the streaming variety or DVD/Bluray.  Compared to the Wii, which is used by its users to play games 60% of the time.

And the Xbox 360 had a much bigger percentage of gamers actually gaming  at a 62% gaming rate.

This makes a lot of sense as one of the big selling points for the PlayStation 3 was in its BluRay player.  This was also one of the reasons that the console cost so much at launch.  The Xbox 360 on the other hand has moved more towards streaming media since a failed HD disc add-on was beaten back by the market.

It does appear that the future is streaming, however.  Most consoles should have that capability going forward.  With things like Netflix starting to take hold of the movie watching audience and being able to do it from many different devices, game consoles should be no different.
