Star Ocean Till the End of Time Director's Cut PS4

The Star Ocean series returned last year with the release of Integrity and Faithlessness, but today we learn that one of the older games will be getting a remaster. Square Enix announced today that PlayStation 2’s Star Ocean: Till the End of Time will be coming to PlayStation 4 in the form of a director’s cut.

The director’s cut of the game is an enhanced version of the original game that will run at full 1080p resolution, which will come with various graphical improvements to ensure the game is up to today’s standards. There was no release date given for the game, but we do know that it will be a digital-only release and will feature trophy support. Share and remote play functionality was also confirmed, and you can check out the visual improvements via the video below. The footage for Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Director’s Cut begins around the 1:13:00 mark.

The most recent release from the Star Ocean series was Anamnesis, which is a free-to-play RPG for iOS and Android devices. However, the game is currently only available to play in Japan, with no word on a release in other regions being announced yet. Despite being a mobile game, it features three-dimensional characters and environments that faithfully convey the look and feel of the console iterations.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time originally launched for the PlayStation 2 in Japan in 2003, before getting a Director’s Cut that was released globally in 2004. It’s also regularly cited as one of the best installments in the entire series, so it will definitely be a great opportunity to check it out for those who might have missed it initially. We weren’t given an estimation regarding when we might learn the release date for the PS4 director’s cut, but you can be sure to find it here as soon as the news breaks.
