SNES Classic Edition Preorders Going Live at Various Retailers

| @Konman72 | 1 month ago

Late last night saw the first official release of SNES Classic Edition preorders, with Best Buy firing off the first salvo. Sure, we’d seen these go up before, with Walmart jumping the gun so much that they ended up having to cancel every single preorder that was placed. It’s been over a month since then though, so Best Buy launching their SNES Classic Edition preorders seems to indicate that this week and next will be when they really start rolling out.

Of course, the Best Buy preorders sold out almost immediately, first appearing around 1am Eastern Time and being gone within a few minutes. Still, they did seem to last longer than what we’d seen with the ridiculously hard to buy NES Classic. Many even got them late, with Best Buy’s inventory seeming to fluctuate as the orders came in, or failed to complete. In-store pickup was also an option, hinting that supply might still be constrained, but appears to be superior to the SNES Classic Edition’s predecessor.

Amazon, Walmart, and a number of other retailers could be ready to launch preorders for the SNES Classic Edition. If so, they will likely start appearing soon, now that whatever the holdup was behind-the-scenes has been worked out. Those who want one of these retro consoles will need to be vigilant, so watch for updates soon.
