Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour Demo Now Available on PC

The Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour demo has hit PC via Steam. Previously exclusive to PS4 before expanding to Xbox One and finally PC, this downloadable chunk of gameplay gives players a peak into the horror and madness that awaits them in the final game.

“You wake up alone on the floor of an abandoned farmhouse. Daylight is quickly fading. You must find a way out,” reads the description on Steam. “A thrillingly immersive horror experience for the five senses. This full model change to the frightening “Isolated View” player perspective, and photorealistic graphics of the cutting-edge RE Engine mark a new beginning for survival horror. Enter a terrifyingly new world of horror and survive.”

Resident Evil 7 is set to reinvent the long running survival horror series. This demo has shown players what they might expect, which seems to have done well since it has become one of the most downloaded demos of all time. One thing that helped contribute to this is that Capcom has put out a number of updates over the last few months, offering up new sections of gameplay and expanding on the mysteries of the original demo.

Resident Evil 7 will also be playable in VR, but this will be a PlayStation VR exclusive for some time. The demo is currently playable in VR as well, but only on PS4. Those with a Vive or Oculus Rift will have to wait for the update long after the game launches, Januaray 24th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Resident Evil series has been struggling as of late. Though sales have still be strong, critical and fan reception has dropped significantly. This seems to be the impetus behind the reinvention seen in Resident Evil 7. Whether it will pay off is the big question. Let us know what you think of the Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour demo in the comments.
