Minecraft Minecon 2016

Minecraft is a game that is always changing. Whether it’s with the addition of new features and gameplay mechanics, or just fixing the bugs that those additions introduced to the game, updates roll out all the time. Sometimes these are more focused, delivering patches to specific versions of the always expanding library of Minecraft editions. Today sees one of these updates, targeting some very specific bugs on the PS4 version of the game. Minecraft update 1.43 should be hitting PS4 soon, and here are the patch notes.

Minecraft Update 1.43 Patch Notes: Fix for MCCE-4226 – Wrong LOD showing for non-block item icons in the UI. Fix for MCCE-4227 – Nether portals sending players to the wrong portals. Fix for seeds always appearing as “0” in Load World menu. Fix for MCCE-4321 – Player may fall through the block below them when jumping in a confined space e.g small tunnel.

It’s a small, but important list of bugs that Minecraft update 1.43 will be fixing on PS4. It also seems to be a responsive update, with Minecraft update 1.42 having hit PS4 just a few days earlier. That update had a lot more changes to it, fixing tons of issues and adding in some new elements for the game.

So far we have not heard about similar updates for Xbox One, Wii U, or any of Minecraft’s many other console versions. Usuaully these sorts of updates are synced up, with one having the same changes and improvements as the others, but perhaps these were issues that only impacted the PS4 version of the game. They could just be delayed though, with each console having a different certification process for updates like this.

Minecraft recently raised its overall sales figure, topping out at over 122 million copies of the hugely popular game. With sales still in the millions, it’s hard to see where it might stop.
