Minecraft Update 42 and Patch 1.48 Rolling Out Now on Consoles

| @Konman72 | 5 months ago

4J Studios has revealed the patch notes for a new Minecraft update which is rolling out now across all console versions of the game. Due to the way these consoles function, the update has different names depending on what system you play on. For Xbox One this is Minecraft Update 42, and for PS4 it is Patch 1.48. No matter the name, the changes seem steady across the board, so check out the patch notes here.

This latest Minecraft update focuses pretty heavily on the newly released Glide minigame. A console exclusive, this mode lets players race each other through carefully crafted levels using the in-game wings. The update adds in some new purchasable maps for the mode, along with fixing some errors that were discovered after launch.

These include “Change to Glide to require passing through all Checkpoints before reaching the end of the track. Glide Solo Mode can now be played for longer before being automatically returned to the Lobby. Fix for spectator not hearing Glide ring or thermal sounds for the player they are spectating. Fix for Glide round timer continuing to tick while the Pause Menu is displayed in Solo Mode. Decreased the respawn delay in Glide.”

There were a few other smaller changes made to Glide, so check out the full patch notes for details, or just load up the game and see what’s new. Along with Glide there were some smaller fixes throughout Minecraft, such as a fix for the Mass Effect Mash-up pack, and some visual fixes for character models.

Minecraft is obviously a massive hit, though the console versions have become even more popular than the original PC release. 4J Studios does a great job of keeping the experience updated, and adding in some fresh stuff like Glide. Hopefully they have something new they’re already working on for a future Minecraft update.
