Mass Effect: Andromeda Will Receive Free DLC Maps

The release of Mass Effect: Andromeda is very close now, but we’re still learning big things about the game despite it being so close to the game’s launch. One thing we have been learning about recently is the game’s multiplayer mode, detailing character customization and how the mode itself works.

However, one big question was whether or not the game would be receiving additional maps via DLC, and if those maps would be free as was the case with Mass Effect 3. It has now been confirmed by BioWare that the DLC maps will be released just like they were in Mass Effect 3, meaning that they will all be released for free. While there were no details given on just how many DLC map packs we could expect to get, it’s worth noting that the last game received 5 of them when all was said and done. Along with the new maps, these packs also contained things like new characters and equipment to use.

Andromeda will also have loot boxes like in Mass Effect 3 that can be unlocked by spending real money, but they can also be unlocked through traditional gameplay. To the relief of many fans, it was confirmed that the game will not have a season pass. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be any paid DLC such as story content coming at some point, but BioWare was not willing to share any more details when asked about that recently.

While fans were originally supposed to be able to test out the game’s multiplayer in a beta, the developer ultimately decided to scrap the plans to host a beta. They scrapped the beta due to it being so close to launch, and the fact that they felt it was unnecessary due to all of the user testing that has already been done for the multiplayer. The mode will be ready for the game’s launch, and the developer is confident that it will go off without a hitch.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on March 21st.
