Five Nights At Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy’s debuted last August and quickly gained notoriety as one of the scarier games of recent years. In the few months since that release, we’ve already seen two sequels released, the latest of which came just last month. As of the release of the third game, the series have already built a bit of a cult following and Warner Bros. is banking on that translating to the big screen, as they have announced that they have acquired the rights and will be making a movie based on Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Scott Cawthon’s horror game series set inside a variation of Chuck-E-Cheese was going to receive a big screen adaptation, produced by Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and KatzSmith Productions’ Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. Grahame-Smith himself is “looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie.” Cawthon is also very excited to see his baby be turned into a movie, of which he had the following to say:

“The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to.”

No writers have been named yet, but it was revealed that Adam Stone and Jay Ireland would be executive producers, while Jon Berg and Nik Mavinkurve would be overseeing the project for Warner Bros.
