Final Fantasy XV’s Relationship Between Story & Gameplay Inspired By The Last Of Us

Final Fantasy XV

2016 is finally the year that the much awaited Final Fantasy XV is set to release, though after the polarizing Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, there is certainly reason for fans to be a little concerned. However, it sounds like the development team had some very well respected inspiration in one way that definitely can’t hurt the chances of this being a great game.

Taking over as director of Final Fantasy XV in 2014, Hajime Tabata has definitely been in the limelight in the time since. His latest interview came courtesy of Examiner, where he mentioned some very interesting inspirations for Final Fantasy XV.

Within this interview, Tabata discusses how they worked hard to tie the story and gameplay together very well, so as to not feel forced in any way.

“It’s important that the story progresses through the gameplay in a very unforced way, in a similar way that it was done with The Last of Us, for example.”

This is something very comforting to hear, as The Last of Us is one of the best games of the last generation and did an exceptional job at tying together the story and gameplay throughout.

Final Fantasy XV still has no set release date, but Tabata has confirmed once again that it is coming in 2016, with Square Enix targeting a worldwide release for the game.
