Cult Classic ‘Deadly Premonition’ is Getting its own Board Game

| @Konman72 | 6 months ago

The cult classic video game Deadly Premonition is getting its own board game. At least, it will if the Kickstarter campaign does well. It seems like it will though, launching earlier today and already amassing over $18,000 of its $50,000 goal. Backers can pledge as low as $3 or more than $60, with rewards ranging from a “thank you” from the devs to copies of the Deadly Premonition board game and video game.

Deadly Premonition released in 2007 becoming a cult hit thanks to its offbeat nature. Coming from designer Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, the game certainly stands out among the crowd, offering a very different take on both the genre and video games as a whole. This new board game project has the full blessing of Swery who offered a message to his fans.

“Deadly Premonition: The Board Game is based upon the memorably offbeat characters, creepy locations and unsettling events that unfold in the 2007 cult classic videogame Deadly Premonition, from acclaimed game developer Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro. The board game is created and devised as a passion project by Samuel Elphick and Daniel Osuna Perez, two members of the Rising Star Games team.”

The game allows two to four players to enter the world of Deadly Premonition, “you and your fellow detectives must take on the task of protecting the innocent, incriminating the guilty and work out who might not be quite who they say they are. With a hidden killer amongst the detectives, the race is on to identify a suspect as an accomplice in order to track down the Raincoat Killer.”

If the campaign is successful the games are expected to start shipping out later this year, most likely in December. It is gaining backers quickly, so expect it to reach its goal. There are already a slate of stretch goals laid out going up to $125,000 as of this post.
