Bungie’s Destiny will be at least partially a Sandbox title

Bungie’s first game after stepping away from the Halo franchise is due out next year. The alleged next-gen title has seen zero details from the developers themselves, leaving many to their own devices when speculating on the future of the Washington based development team.

One of Bungie’s recent hires for the Destiny project was Danny Bulla, formerly of Rockstar San Diego where he worked on Red Dead Redemption. At Bungie, Bulla is now working on sandbox aspects of the Destiny project, as uncovered by Now Gamer.

“I’m a gameplay designer on the sandbox team,” said Bulla in a company sanctioned interview on the Bungie Blog. “We try to make all the things you do feel and play amazingly. So much, that you’ll want to do it over..and over.”

Details have been slim regarding Bungie’s next game, but the Activision vs. EA lawsuit involving the Call of Duty franchise required Activision to unveil at least partially their plans for Bungie’s next game. In the legal documents, Bungie describes their next game as a “Massively multiplayer, sci-fantasy, action shooter game.” You can add sandbox to that laundry list.
