The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth Switch delay

After a bit of confusion and a last minute delay, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ Switch release date has been set for March 17th. Originally slated as a Nintendo Switch launch title, the game had a minor delay late last month which put it off the actual launch day. It was said that the game would still arrive in the launch month and this new revelation seems to seal the deal.

In fact, based on the image shown in the original tweet, it seems that The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ has gone gold for Nintendo Switch, though the developer did not confirm this fact. Still, the images show the game being produced on Switch cartridges, which means the game is good to go out to consumers, with the possibility of updates being prepared for launch.

The Binding of Isaac has developed a massive cult following after a rocky beginning on PC. The game is a twin-stick shooter featuring an ultra-dark storyline and theme. The randomized levels and plethora of items and weapons have led to many players latching onto the series, with huge Let’s Play communities developing on YouTube.

Afterbirth+ is the final iteration of The Binding of Isaac, adding tons of new content to the experience. It’s predecessor, Rebirth, was available on 3DS and Wii U, but Afterbirth+ seems to be too large of an addition to make its way to those versions.

With any game console launch there’s a slew of games that new owners need to decide between. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is a known quantity, so adding it to the Switch library is a great move, making for a safe bet if you need a new game for you brand new system.

The wait is almost over. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ hits the Nintendo Switch on March 17th, 2017.
