Mass Effect: Andromeda is a massive game, full of intricate mechanics and lots of hidden features. With so many big things to have to wrap your head around, sometimes the simplest stuff can be the hardest to figure out. We’ve gotten into this before with our guides on how to melee and how to change weapons, but another one that might trip players up has come up in some discussions. Here’s a quick guide on how to change squadmates in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
There’s no set menu where you can change your squadmates in Mass Effect: Andromeda, instead you have to make the decision before you land on a planet, take on a mission, or alternatively whenever you’re at a Forward Operating Base. When you do any of these things you will end up at the Loadout menu, where you can also choose what weapons you want to take with you on the mission. Buried behind that is where you can decide what members of your crew tag along on the mission.
To get to that part of the menu you need to hit the shoulder buttons to change what menu you’re on. It will differ, depending on your platform, but you should see the different menus at the top with the button required to change it surrounding it. Hit the button a couple of times to pull up the squadmate menu, then you can choose which ones you want to take with you on the planet or mission.
If you change your mind you need to find a Forward Operating Base, which should land at select parts of the map, in the open-world sections of the game. From here you can change your loadout, including what squadmates you have with you on the mission.
And that’s it for how to change squadmates in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Find more helpful tips in our Beginner’s Guide for the game.
